Program Topic:
Employment Law Update: A Legal Perspective from a Plaintiff and Defense Attorney

It is always important for organizations and HR professionals to stay on top of legal updates and regulatory requirements that affect companies and their employees. With the new political administration and the continuing pandemic, it is even more crucial to determine what employment laws have been updated and their impact, how to change processes, and how to communicate changes to employees and leadership.

Join local attorneys, Leigh Campbell Joyce and Kathleen Neary, as they give their viewpoints on the current legal landscape and how it relates to work.

Presenters:
Kathleen Neary

Kathleen Neary has been with Powers Law representing clients since 1998. As a skilled Lincoln workplace law, discrimination, employer harassment and retaliation, and personal injury attorney, Kathleen serves her clients and the community with passion and poise. Kathleen is a past president of the Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys.

Leigh Campbell Joyce
Leigh Campbell Joyce defends employers in a wide range of workplace claims including employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, and disability actions. Leigh’s practice also includes representing public and private schools, including colleges and universities, in matters involving student rights and discipline, due process and civil rights claims, and compliance with federal laws such as FERPA and Title IX.

Leigh is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she studied Political Science. After working in the social services field, she went on to earn her law degree from Boston University School of Law. Prior to joining Baird Holm LLP, Leigh worked at a boutique management-side labor and employment firm in Boston, Massachusetts.
