- President Trump announced a new nominee for Labor Secretary – Alexander Acosta. Some additional information on Alexander Acosta is below:
o Dean of the Florida International University College of Law
o Previously served on the NLRB under President George W. Bush (2002-2003)
o Previously held two other Senate-confirmed positions: (1) Assistant attorney general for the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division (2003-2005); and (2) U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida (2005-2009)
o Graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School
