Gail Sutter, LMHP, CEAP, Continuum EAP
Executive Director
Gail has over 25 years of experience in consulting and training with companies of five to five thousand employees. Her areas of expertise include leadership, performance management, conflict management and workplace harassment. Gail holds a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is a Licensed Mental Health Professional and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional. Gail is a member of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association and an active member of the National Best Practices Collaborative.
Melissa Carpenter, Bryan Health
Director of Employee Experience
Melissa Carpenter has been in the Human Resources field for 25 years with a focus on Employee Relations and Organizational Development. She received her Bachelors from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She has a strong focus on the “Human” part of Human Resources believing that employees are the greatest asset to any organization. She is passionate about helping leaders with complex issues and believes that with every difficult situation there is growth, you just have to be willing to see it.
John Leonard Harris, Encouragement Consulting Services
Founder & President
Mr. John Leonard Harris is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He has been the husband of his wife Charlene for 34 years, the father of four adults and the grandfather of three beautiful boys. He attended high school at St. Louis Priory College Preparatory School, a school founded by Benedictine monks from Ampleforth, England. He went on to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio-TV-Film Production. He has also received his Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education.
Much of Mr. Harris’ professional career has been spent n higher education working at institutions like Dartmouth College (Instructional Media Specialist), the University of Nebraska at Omaha (Student Activities Advisor), the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Adjunct Instructor-Ethnic Studies) and Nebraska Wesleyan University (Coordinator of Service-Learning). Mr. Harris is the founder of Encouragement Unlimited, Inc. a charitable nonprofit organization that serves as a resource for low-income and otherwise disadvantaged individuals and families in Lincoln and across the country. He is also the founder of Encouragement Consulting Services and Encouragement Kingdom Outreach, both extensions of his ministry of encouragement and hope. Several years ago, Mr. Harris was added to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “Wall of Honor” for his work promoting equality in his community. He also received the Dr. Melvin Jones Mentoring Award for his work over the years in helping young people in his community.

2022 May Day Basket Raffle
Tuesday, May 10 will be our annual May Day Basket Raffle to benefit the SHRM Foundation. As a chapter, LHRMA supports the work of the SHRM Foundation in advancing the HR profession. We will be selling raffle tickets before our May luncheon program and workshop. If you are interested in purchasing your tickets early, you may do so using the online option on the LHRMA website. You will be given tickets to distribute in the raffle baskets the day of the event.
